Founder, Mayan Islands | Scott Mallick

Redwood City, California

Situated near Ambergris Caye, Belize, Scott Mallick’s Mayan Islands resort aims to bring responsible and sustainable luxury vacation homes to Belize. Scott Mallick, an entrepreneur with a social conscience, has developed a strategy to introduce visitors to stunning Ambergris Caye while allowing local residents to benefit from the business. Mallick’s vision includes eventually transferring ownership of Mayan Islands to the governing body of the town of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye’s only major town. The transfer, Scott Mallick explains, will mean that residents benefit financially from visitors.

The tourism industry in the region has grown substantially in recent years. In addition to the area’s traditional exports such as coconuts, chicle, and fish, its Caribbean beaches and diverse ecosystems (including the world’s second largest barrier reef) make it a mecca for scuba divers and recreational fishers today. Scott Mallick recognized this potential. He enlisted architect Kobi Karp to design Mayan Islands’ structures and won the support of numerous investors. Mallick’s project is scheduled to open for business later this year.

Two types of accommodations will be available to Mayan Islands guests. Scott Mallick describes the first, Cove Estates, as the “crown jewels” of the project. Composed of 16 structures custom-designed by Karp, Cove Estates will provide the ultimate in luxury and exclusivity. The Star Island Villas will allow guests to relax and enjoy the island’s natural beauty. All Mayan Islands endeavors, Scott Mallick emphasizes, will take advantage of green technologies such as wind and solar power.

Scott Mallick also owns the rights to luxury concierge service Quintessentially, which offers round-the-clock support to individuals who value their time and expect excellence from life. Mallick notes that Quintessentially prides itself on providing its clients with access to the most exclusive events around the world.
