Sharad Pant is a Program Manager working with NGO (Non Governmental Organization) for Infrastructure & Livelihood Development in Bundelkhand region of India. Here he is working on promotion of alternative cost effective & energy efficient housing technology, safe drinking water, watershed development & infrastructure development in villages. In his words “ In past I worked for water conservation & management but now I am working on safe drinking water, in rehabilitation project I worked for providing shelters only but now I am working for promoting green & energy efficient Habitat for all”. He is promoting credit base housing scheme in the region. To secure the livelihood of mason and to promote the cost effective technology of housing through mason, he working for their capacity building recently he constituted Mason Club. Through this mason club he is providing them continuous livelihood, also this mason will work for rehabilitation during disaster. Also he is doing counseling, encouraging and facilitating the unemployed youth of region to start the enterprise.
People used to call him “The Man of Action”. He has clear thought that the policies and schemes are useful only when it will be based on ground level facts and reality. Since 1995 he is working in Development Sector he was worked in different States of India on different subject and issues. In devastating Tsunami of 26th December ‘2004, as a Program Manager he has carried out remarkable work of relief, rehabilitation, land reclamation, health & sanitation, with his team member in Andaman & Nicobar Islands of India.
He is good team leader, energetic and ever ready to accept new challenges with positive approach. He has special interest in working for Disaster Management because he thought that person can able to check his optimum efficiency and skill during disaster management, its very challenging work it required hard work, multi-tasking level skill set and readiness to work without any time limit. He has believed in living for a cause & he has passion to work towards making a better tomorrow.
