Owner and President, Portin Parker Consulting
For the past 17 years, Portin Parker Consulting has provided sales, marketing and business development guidance to media companies and small businesses at the direction of its President, Sharon Portin Parker. A veteran of the media business, Sharon Portin Parker provides comprehensive consulting, including marketing and sales audits, marketing planning, product launches, value programs to increase revenue, and creative solutions. Some of her most notable clients include MTV Networks, Lifetime Networks, NBC Universal and Comcast Spotlight. When business news magazine Cable World created a special edition recognizing 50 years since the introduction of cable television, the periodical hired Sharon Portin Parker’s company to develop, market and implement the year long celebration in collaboration with the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM), Women in Cable Telecommunications, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, and other industry leaders.
During the years she consulted for Comcast Spotlight, Sharon Portin Parker conducted an extensive research project with partner networks, designed to increase revenues and build new partnerships. The local breast health promotions she developed for Lifetime Television became a network standard, and her other achievements with the network helped Lifetime to emerge as an advertising leader by focusing on the needs of affiliates. Additionally, a local promotion for the FX Networks, FX In Your Town, earned Sharon Portin Parker awards and industry recognition. She also introduced and facilitated plans to help cable systems gain grocery store advertising on the Food Network, which enabled the systems to garner revenues from such entities for the first time.
Sharon Portin Parker does not exclusively work with cable companies. Bishop Partners Inc. in New York City hired her to help find suitable candidates for executive-level jobs in various media companies. When AlphaNet, a hardware reseller, sought to reinvent itself as an information technology consultancy, she redesigned the company’s image, developed marketing materials, designed new websites, wrote business plans, and offered suggestions alongside senior executives during brainstorming sessions. She utilized her expertise to work with many Fairfield County companies including real estate, financial consulting, architectural design, and several homecare and health staffing companies.

Symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease , By Sharon Portin Parker
April, 2012
The sixth-leading cause of death in the United States, Alzheimer’s disease affects more than 4.5 million people across the country. Although the cause of the disorder remains unknown, doctors have recognized a genetic predisposition to the condition.
A form of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease affects many areas of brain function such as memory, behavior, and thinking. At its start, the disease takes on the appearance of forgetfulness. As it progresses, sufferers experience difficulty in managing their emotions, perception, memory, and cognitive skills. More specific symptoms include struggling while performing common tasks, forgetting about one’s own life and current events, getting lost while driving or walking, and having trouble sleeping.
