Shiladitya Paul is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Cambridge. As a member of the Composites and Coatings group at the Gordon Laboratory, he investigates how the mechanical behaviour of Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs) affect its life. His regearch group, led by Prof. T. W. Clyne, has its base in the Dept. of Materials Science & Metallurgy and has strongly influenced the now pervasive various composites & coating systems. He is currently monitoring the variation of porosity, strength and elastic modulus of zirconia based TBCs in aero-engines.
