Sierra Shoopman continues her education and looks forward to her career in medicine.

Seattle, Washington

Over the years, Sierra Shoopman has maintained a fine balance within her academic and extracurricular commitments, building a solid record of scholastic achievement and community involvement. A recent graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle, Sierra Shoopman frequently split her efforts between coursework in Biology and Chemistry and charity work as a member of the Kappa chapter of the Delta Zeta sorority, where she served as Assistant Activities Chair and Assistant Philanthropy Chair. In the latter role, Sierra Shoopman maintained a consistent schedule of community outreach activities, leading her sisters through fundraising events to benefit such causes as The Painted Turtle camp and the American Cancer Society’s Relay of Life. As a student, Sierra Shoopman appeared on the Dean’s list several times at UW, additionally earning selection to the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honor Society. With an interest in the medical field, Sierra Shoopman also accepted opportunities to shadow emergency services personnel, optometry professionals, and ophthalmologists during her time at UW, along with a summer position as a secretary for Northwest Dental Consultants, Inc. in Olympia, Washington. Sierra Shoopman earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Washington in 2011.

A longtime resident of Washington State, Sierra Shoopman grew up in Olympia, where she attended Capital High School and took part in the Running Start program, through which she completed college-level coursework at South Puget Sound Community College. With a final GPA of 3.89 at Capital High School, Sierra Shoopman simultaneously received her diploma and A.A. from South Puget Sound Community College in 2007, along with a Washington State Principals’ Award for Academic Excellence.
