Since 2005, Mr. Simon Nagel has lent his extensive legal experience to Dechert LLP as a Senior Litigation Associate. Recognized among colleagues and clients alike for his deep knowledge of litigation, Simon Nagel is highly involved in leading a team of staff attorneys, paralegals, and over 250 contract attorneys. Since joining Dechert LLP, Simon Nagel has become integral to a team that has performed pretrial defense for major corporations, like GlaxoSmithKline, Amgen, and Merck. Simon Nagel’s thorough pretrial work includes pretrial discovery and production, strategic elimination of irrelevant data, ongoing reporting, witness preparation, document analyzing, and fact investigation. Simon Nagel began his tenure at Dechert LLP as a Corporate Securities Associate, where he excelled at guiding clients through a broad range of mergers and acquisitions, in addition to a variety of financing transactions. Simon Nagel’s clear talent for leadership and organization led to his subsequent promotion to Senior Litigation Associate. Over the course of his professional career, Simon Nagel has also served as an Associate for Pepper Hamilton LLP’s Health Effects Litigation Department. Educated in engineering, Simon Nagel spent three years as an engineer with Lockheed Martin before pursuing his career in law. Simon Nagel matriculated at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, from which he graduated cum laude with his Juris Doctor. Simon Nagel also holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. Simon Nagel maintains memberships in the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Bar of the State of New York, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production. A resident of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Simon Nagel enjoys camping, gardening, hiking, and shooting in his spare time.

I currently serve as the Director of Business Development at Hudson Legal in Philadelphia. Hudson Legal is nationally recognized as the eminent legal staffing and discovery solution company, assisting both corporations and law firms with staffing needs and discovery consulting. Recently, Hudson Legal’s Discovery Consulting saved a global pharmaceutical firm almost $400,000 over the course of multiple reviews of 50 to 60 team members. Employing an upfront discovery consulting process, Hudson Legal identified an easily overlooked cost saving opportunity. Through a macro-level folder structure, it was made possible to avoid the over collection of a vast number of documents, a process that had been costing the company hundreds of thousands of dollars. Working for an AmLaw 100 firm that oversees two major government investigations of financial services organizations, Hudson Legal conducted a full review process and discovered problems with the firm’s tagging decisions. Hudson Legal re-engineered the tagging forms from scratch, allowing for the bulk tagging of documents, saving over 1,000 review hours and $50,000. The firm was able to reduce manual editing, unproductive reviewers, and unnecessary tagging, making the review process much more effective and efficient. I personally contribute to the placement of the best legal minds in positions across a variety of fields. Hudson Legal utilizes a clearly defined methodology to place legal professionals in suitable positions. First, the company develops a deep understanding of an organization, including history, character, and needs, in order to identify qualified candidates who will be a superior fit from its large database of professionals. Hudson Legal uses a rigorous screening process that involves testing, verifying credentials, and speaking to references, ensuring that it places only the most talented lawyers.
