Dr. Stephen Carolan completed his medical residency in 1988, the same year he launched his career in obstetrics and gynecology, at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Prior to undergoing this four-year training, Dr. Stephen Carolan attended New York Medical College, graduating 2nd in his class of 207 students. Before obtaining his Doctor of Medicine (MD), however, he completed his undergraduate coursework at St. John’s University in Queens, New York, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Throughout his academic tenure, Dr. Stephen Carolan maintained a General Excellence Scholarship and was named a Regents Scholar as well as a Harrison Scholar.

Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr. Stephen Carolan serves as the Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Greenwich Hospital, a division of Greenwich Health Care Services, Inc. Functioning in this position, he manages 48 physicians within his division, organizes departmental meetings, creates efficiency protocols, and provides staff training as necessary. Additionally, Dr. Stephen Carolan serves the Westchester Medical Group, an affiliate of Greenwich Hospital, within the clinic’s division of obstetrics and gynecology. Offering specialty services in urogynecologic and laparoscopic procedures, Dr. Stephen Carolan also holds an interest in vaginal surgery. The 2010 winner of eHealthcare Leaderships Awards’ “Best Design” category for its company website, Westchester Medical Group has received several other awards from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

Dedicated to continual learning in the advancement of medical technology, Dr. Stephen Carolan remains connected to several professional organizations. These groups include the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and Alpha Omega Alpha, a national honor society for medical professionals.
