After a successful career in venture capital, Steven Eskenazi recently began concentrating his expertise as an independent angel investor. Seeking companies that offer a unique position in the market, Steve Eskenazi provides funding, a large network, and business growth advice to his clients. Steven Eskenazi often invests in companies that are capital efficient and offer exits between $50-$75 million. Steve is stage-agnostic in his approach, preferring instead to focus on companies that are capital efficient and that “do well by doing good”.

Steve Eskenazi advises investors to find “sweet spots” in vertical markets, so that exits are lucrative for everyone involved. For example, Steve Eskenazi personally co-led a $2 million round of funding for Hands-On Video Relay Services, a communications company for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Although Steven Eskenazi did not expect to sell soon, he was approached by GoAmerica and Verizon to participate in a three-way merger. Because of his ability to set-up and position the company in the market, Steve Eskenazi was able to find an exit that benefited the three merging companies and investors. In less than 18 months, the investment in Hands-On was realized at close to 10x.

For over a decade as a Managing General Partner at Walden Venture Capital, Steve Eskenazi backed business savvy startups like Blue Lithium, an internet advertising network who sold to Yahoo for $300 million, representing 7+x on Walden’s investment in roughly 3 years. At Walden, Steve Eskenazi sought companies that were revolutionizing the Internet commerce, technology-enabled service, and the digital media industries. Steven Eskenazi raised two funds worth more than $300 million and led investments with several industry-leading companies, including Cybertrust, Adknowledge, DigitalThink, and Outtask.

Before his tenure with Walden Venture Capital, Steve Eskenazi was an industry reknowned securities analyst at Alex. Brown & Sons. In addition to founding Alex. Brown’s New Media Group, Steve Eskenazi was directly involved in the sponsorship or IPO’s of America Online, Apollo Group/University of Phoenix, Broderbund Software, CBT Systems/SmartForce, Electronic Arts, Sylvan Learning Systems, and Macromedia. For two years in a row, Steven Eskenazi won The Wall Street Journal All-Star award as an analyst and stock picker. Steve Eskenazi started his career with IBM after graduating from Union College with his Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and, later, from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College with his MBA.
