Over the course of his career as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Steven Kleiner, M.D., has maintained a broad professional focus, amassing a number of achievements in the process. As an undergraduate, Steven Kleiner, M.D., majored in political science, completed the General Course at The London School of Economics and Political Science, and earned an internship with the Delegation of the European Union in Washington, D.C.

Following receipt of his B.A. in 1993, Steven Kleiner, M.D., embarked on a highly diversified career path, earning a Raoul Wallenberg Scholarship, working for The Harry S. Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and exhibiting his photographs at various galleries in New York and Jerusalem. In the late 1990s, Steven Kleiner, M.D., shifted his professional focus to medicine and psychiatry and enrolled at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. Between 1998 and 2002, Steven Kleiner, M.D., underwent an intensive study of medicine, including a summer research position at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s Department of Neurology. In this capacity, he served as a Research Assistant on the functional neuroimaging of visual and attentional networks.

After graduating from Weill Cornell Medical College, Steven Kleiner, M.D., immediately entered into a yearlong internship in internal medicine and neurology, followed by a residency in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School’s affiliate, Cambridge Hospital. During his residency, Steven Kleiner, M.D., began to cultivate his expertise in university mental health, spending his final year working for MIT Mental Health Services and developing a proficiency in the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders. In addition, Steven Kleiner, M.D., earned a fellowship from the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) in 2004, which granted funding for various research projects. At the successful completion of his residency, Steven Kleiner, M.D., opened a private practice in Cambridge and joined the psychiatric staff at Brookline Community Mental Health Center, where he spent nearly four years treating adult patients with complicated and severe conditions. Now wholly focused on his private practice, Steven Kleiner, M.D., helps patients in professional and academic environments manage anxiety, depression, and more chronic mental illnesses through psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Steven Kleiner, M.D., lives and works in the greater Boston area.
