Orthopaedic SurgeonFalls Church, VirginiaSteven Neufeld, MD, a board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon in Washington D.C., is involved with numerous organizations within the medical industry. Holding membership with the Medical Society of Virginia, Eastern Orthopaedic Association, and Arlington Medical Society, he is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society. In addition to these memberships, Steven Neufeld, MD, maintains a senior-level position with several other institutions. Steven Neufeld, MD, was President of the Young Professionals Section of American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) from 2008 to 2010. He currently serves on the AOFAS Education Committee and is responsible for helping to oversee the education of orthopaedic residents, doctors, and students. He is also on the Technical Exhibits Committee for the Eastern Orthopaedic Association, and he has served on the Electronic Media Committee for American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society. On staff at numerous facilities in the Washington, D.C. area, Steven Neufeld, MD, offers his talents as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, Inova Alexandria Hospital, Virginia Hospital Center, and Sibley Memorial Hospital. At Inova Fairfax Hospital, he runs the orthopaedic foot and ankle service. He also serves as a reviewer and editor for orthopaedic foot and ankle journals, deciding which articles are accepted for publication. Heavily involved with research throughout his career, Steven Neufeld, MD, has earned awards and grants for his efforts. In 2001, he was awarded the Roger H. Michael/Johnson & Johnson Research Award and the American Journal of Orthopedics’ Resident Writer’s Award. Receiving the On-Q Research Grant in 2007, Steven Neufeld, MD, performed a foot and ankle post-operative pain trial consisting of a randomized, placebo-controlled, patient-oriented study. He was also given the Synthes, Inc. Research Grant in 2009 to execute a biomechanical comparison of compression screws and locking plates. In an ongoing study, Steven Neufeld, MD, is investigating immediate weight-bearing capacity after Hallux Valgus correction with locking plate fixation. In his personal life, Steven Neufeld, MD, engages in various recreational activities. Pursuing athletic endeavors such as basketball, golf, and squash, he is also a certified scuba diver.
