Owner and optometrist at Moderne Eye Optometry in Oakland, California, for the past 17 years, Dr. Sue Lin is continually winning accolades and garnering publicity. Recently, Dr. Sue Lin earned Best Eyeglasses awards highlighting success in the vision care business from the Oakland Magazine and the East Bay Express. Following her post-doctoral work at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), Dr. Sue Lin worked as a Senior Optometrist at UC Davis Health System Eye Center, performing cornea and neuro-ophthalmology services. After working in several practice settings, Dr. Sue Lin partnered with Dr. Reuben Rivera in 1993, launching Moderne Eye Optometry. A wearer of contact lenses for many years, Dr. Sue Lin has published scientific papers on diverse subjects, including the physiological effects of wearing contact lenses overnight, the origin of contact lens deposits, and an analysis of the eye’s tearfilm. Receiving three degrees from UC Berkeley, Dr. Sue Lin holds a Doctor of Optometry degree in Vision Science, a Master of Science degree in Physiological Optics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Dr. Sue Lin and her husband are donors to charities such as Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Habitat for Humanity, First Place for Youth, and the local schools. Dr. Sue Lin has provided donations of eye exams and eyeglasses to school children in need at the request of school counselors and school Principals. A mother of two children, Dr. Sue Lin enjoys volunteering in the classroom. Aware of the value of involvement in local and national optometry associations, Dr. Sue Lin holds membership in the California Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
