Susana de Sola Funsten’s scholarly accomplishments in New Testament Studies have led her to a Visiting faculty position at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, as well as other Adjunct professorships at various liberal arts colleges in Southern California. After completing a B.A. in Anthropology at Harvard, Susana de Sola Funsten earned an M.S. in Public Health at UCLA. Ms. de Sola Funsten turned her attention to Theological Studies at Claremont School of Theology, where she received an M.A. in 2001. She then continued to pursue her Ph.D. in Religion/New Testament Studies from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California. Before accepting a position as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Loyola Marymount University, Susana de Sola Funsten served as an Adjunct Professor at Azusa Pacific University and Occidental College. Susana de Sola Funsten’s research interests encompass the New Testament, with special focus on the synoptic gospels and Acts of the Apostles. Work by Susana de Sola Funsten for Sacred History Magazine includes the articles “Who Was Present at Mary’s Death?” and “Did Jesus Set Those Captives Free?” Susan de Sola Funsten has also presented a paper titled“A New Look at Matthew 18:23-35: The Parable of the Unforgiving Slave” a t the Society of Biblical Literature’s annual conference in 2007 in San Diego, CA. The mother of three adult daughters, Susana de Sola Funsten enjoys spending time with her family and taking long walks with her dog near her home in Los Angeles. Susana de Sola Funsten is also a fan of cooking, travel, and classical music and is actively involved with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Public Library, UCLA Alumni Association, Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Southern California, Children’s Institute International, and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
