Terry Jones has been making an impact on public and private institutions for over 30 years. In 1986, Terry Jones earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Later that year, Terry Jones garnered the attention of the Sacred Heart School board, based in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and became Principal of Sacred Heart School by fall 1986. Terry Jones was influential in the school’s transition toward financial independence. By implementing an extracurricular program granting students experiential wilderness trips four times per year, Terry Jones enabled the school to earn extra funds and gain financial stability apart from parish support. Terry Jones applied this experience to his next project. As Principal of Loma Prieta Continuation High School in Santa Cruz, Terry Jones took on the challenge of creating a positive learning environment for troubled students. To that end, Terry Jones founded and supervised a home schooling program sponsored by the district. In addition, Terry Jones facilitated a community census in the creation of a charter school for at-risk youth. Established by Terry Jones in 1994, the Delta Charter School is the 59th in the state and continues to provide alternative education opportunities to Santa Cruz students. After serving alongside the superintendent for eight years, Terry Jones took on the same role with his third post. Terry Jones joined Orchard School District Educational Services in September 1998. Jones garnered lucrative partnerships with major corporations in Santa Cruz, securing $250,000 in grants for after school programs. He also yielded $60 million in bonds for the school’s expansion, the reduction of class sizes, and the implementation of facilities for low-achieving students. During this time, Terry Jones balanced his priorities as a Superintendent with the opportunity to teach education courses as a Senior Lecturer at San Jose State University. Terry Jones also assisted credential candidates with their required workshops. Jones transferred his expertise to San Francisco State University in July 2002. He served as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Secondary Education for six years, instructing prerequisite courses and acting as an elected representative to the University Academic Senate. Additionally, Terry Jones maintained active involvement in satellites with institutions like the Bay Area Teachers Program. Terry Jones received his Bachelor of Arts degree in German and Psychology from California State University, Fresno and his Master’s in Education Administration from St. Mary’s College.
