Stadheim

Serving as a law researcher under the supervision of Professor Francesco Parisi, Theresa Stadheim is a current Juris Doctor candidate at the University of Minnesota Law School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Theresa Stadheim serves as a Research Assistant for Francesco Parisi at the University of Minnesota Law School. Investigating a multitude of legal and economics issues, Stadheim has assisted with papers on antitrust enforcement against bundling practices, subsidiarity matters, and bilateral contracts. Theresa Stadheim previously served as a Research Assistant for Professor Tom Cotter, focusing on intellectual property and unfair competition issues. During her tenure with Professor Cotter, Theresa Stadheim assisted with the development and completion of a paper concerning right of publicity and a book chapter regarding trademarks and unfair competition. She also performed initial research for a potential book on comparative patent remedies. In addition to her experience as a Research Assistant in the law field, Theresa Stadheim garnered professional and technical legal experience as a Law Clerk at Fogg & Powers in Minneapolis, diligently working to prosecute patent and trademark applications. She also formerly served as a Technical Specialist at Miller, Matthias & Hull, where she wrote two patent applications in electrical and mechanical arts, answered office actions for patent and trademark applications, prepared patentability opinions, and prepared and prosecuted patent and trademark applications. Drawing on her years of legal knowledge and hands-on experience, Theresa Stadheim authored “How KSR v. Teleflex Will Affect Patent Prosecution in the Electrical and Mechanical Arts,” published in February 2009. She is also the author of “Rambus, N-Data, and the FTC: Creating Efficient Incentives in Patent Holders and Optimizing Consumer Welfare in Standards-Setting Organizations.” Theresa Stadheim supplements her professional resume in the legal sphere as a member in good standing of numerous professional organizations, including the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago, American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Bar Association’s Antitrust, Tax, and Intellectual Property Sections. Stadheim is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Outside of her professional duties, Theresa Stadheim is an avid runner and musician. A member of the Minnesota Distance Running Association, Stadheim has competed in numerous marathons. A part of the Dean’s List for two semesters, Theresa Stadheim graduated from Norwich University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in microcontroller-based design. She later enrolled in the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she studied intellectual property advocacy. Theresa Stadheim recently transferred to the University of Minnesota Law School, where she is due to receive her Juris Doctor in May 2010. Stadheim was honored as the Grand Prize Winner and Honorable Mention Winner in the Foley & Lardner 9th Annual Intellectual Property Writing Competition.
