Mr. Thomas Giancristiano has been employed in the education industry for three decades.

An experienced and passionate educator, Mr. Thomas Giancristiano has been involved at every level of the greater Boston public school system over the course of his nearly 30-year career. Most recently employed as a Supervisor of Student Teachers for Northeastern University, Thomas Giancristiano evaluated and mentored student teachers while acting as a liaison between Northeastern University teachers and students throughout the Boston area. Prior to joining the staff of Northeastern University, Thomas Giancristiano served as Superintendent of the Winthrop Public School system in Winthrop, Massachusetts. As Superintendent, Thomas Giancristiano was responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating all school principals and administrative staff for the district. Additionally, Thomas Giancristiano oversaw contract negotiations with teachers, nurses, custodians, secretaries, administrators, and aides unions. Thomas Giancristiano also maintained direct oversight of the school district’s $14M budget. Facing extreme budgetary constraints, Thomas Giancristiano consistently made the difficult financial decisions necessary to ensure the highest academic standards for the school district. During his tenure, Thomas Giancristiano spearheaded the construction of two new elementary schools in the district. Prior to becoming Superintendent of the Winthrop Public Schools, Thomas Giancristiano held a number of varied positions as an educator. Beginning his career as a middle school and high school social studies teacher, Thomas Giancristiano has also served as a Middle School Principal. Additionally, he is certified as a Secondary High School Principal and General Supervisor for the district. Extensively educated, Thomas Giancristiano holds multiple academic degrees, including a Bachelor’s degree from Boston College, a Master’s degree in Education from Boston State College, and a Certificate of Advanced Educational Studies in School Business Administration from Boston College. A respected figure in the Boston area, Thomas Giancristiano maintained membership in a wide range of professional education organizations, including the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the Massachusetts Superintendents’ Round Table. Thomas Giancristiano was also a member of Rotary International and served as the Social Studies coordinator for all of Boston’s middle schools.
