Thomas Leebolt - Chief Engineer at Rosser Marine & CharterChula Vista, CaliforniaTrained as both a Captain and Engineer, Thomas Leebolt possesses an incredible breadth of maritime experience. After spending the first 3 decades of his career on the ocean accruing more than 3,700 days at sea, Leebolt has turned his focus to serving the local yacht community in Poway, California. He ventured throughout the world on a variety of vessels, including trips on the Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Suez Canal, North Sea, and Panama Canal. Licensed as a Chief Engineer and Master Upon Oceans by the United States Coast Guard (USCG), Thomas Leebolt has vast experience over the full gamut of nautical equipment, and is adept at repairing and installing engines, transmissions, refrigeration systems, and desalinization equipment. Aside from his licensure from the USCG, Thomas Leebolt also holds certification in nearly a dozen specialized technologies and procedures, including advanced firefighting, bridge resource management, and celestial navigation. During the last decade of his career, Thomas Leebolt spent most of his time aboard various commercial research ships, switching between Master and Chief Engineer to maintain both of his licenses. Prior to this, Leebolt served on oil field supply vessels as a Chief Engineer. In the initial years after gaining licensure as a Captain, Thomas Leebolt worked exclusively on yachts, two of which were newly built. In total, Leebolt spent seven years as the Master of chartered yachts and five years commanding private yachts. His first industry experience came off the coast of San Diego, where he worked as a Deckhand on a commercial tuna fishing boat in the 1970s.
