Thomas R.
Null

Ph.D. candidate in English literature

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

One September evening in New York City, Thomas was born squinting. After several months of idle contemplation that first winter, he grew delighted by the prospect of spring. His first words arrived in March: bird, light, flower, and book.

He attended Boston College before his graduate studies at Harvard University and The University of Edinburgh, where he is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of English Literature. His research focuses on the conceptual emergence of empathic imagination in British Romantic poetry, and addresses concerns in the fields of literature, the history of ideas, and political philosophy.

Thomas has lived in Boston, London, Buenos Aires, Edinburgh, New York, and Paris, and has visited nearly fifty countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. He now divides his time between New York, Edinburgh, and places he hasn’t yet been.
