Tiffany Shumate is a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow at Bryn Mawr College. She majors in Psychology, with minors in Educational and Africana Studies. Her research interests are education reform movements and African-centered schooling in Philadelphia. She has worked with students in Ghana, Rwanda, and Philadelphia on issues surrounding identity and its role in academic communities. She is the president of The Sisterhood at Bryn Mawr College, a support organization for all women who self-identify with or express interest in the African Diaspora. Her goals include earning a PhD in Urban Education and directing a non-profit for teachers of African American students. She enjoys travel, reading, and creative writing.
