With two growing children, the busy couple believes that their involvement in community affairs is an investment in the future of their family and their city. One of the foundations they support is the Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation. This is a nonprofit organization that raises money to support public schools found in the Menlo Park City School District. These public schools consist of Laurel Elementary, Oak Knoll Elementary, Hillview Middle, and Encinal High.

The Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation was formed in 1982 by volunteers concerned with the declining level of essential programs for its school children. The Foundation helps to bridge the gap in funding necessary for its schools, so each student receives a quality education. A grant of $2.35 million was presented to the Menlo Park School Board by the Foundation for the 2011-2012 school year. This money goes a long way toward providing equipment and supplies needed by the school district. It helps to ensure that the kids will get the best education possible.

The Foundation continually strives to support the cultural arts for school children with programs that encourage art, music, science, and more comprehensive libraries. Teachers in each category work with students to develop an appreciation of the arts and sciences through educational instruction and hands-on involvement. Programs like these have helped area schools to continue to provide a high level of both education and enrichment to students.
