A finance professional for over 10 years, Todd Bernier is a registered stockbroker in the United States. At present, he serves as Assistant Vice President of Capital Markets for GE Capital. Todd Bernier has worked for nearly 15 years in loan analysis and research at a number of prominent companies in the United States and Ontario. He has spent the last seven years as the Assistant Vice President of Capital Markets specializing in loan structuring and syndications at GE Capital in Chicago. As Assistant Vice President, Todd Bernier is involved in all aspects of company’s loan syndication process, including assisting with the underwriting process from performing due diligence on borrowers, handling financial modeling, negotiating loan documents, and presenting transactions to a number of internal managers for approval. He also interacts with customers, preparing marketing pitches for customer calls and providing frequent syndication status updates to clients. At GE Capital, Mr. Bernier has handled the syndication of leveraged loans ranging from $50-500 million.
Prior to accepting his current position with GE Capital, Todd Bernier served as the Associate Director of Equity Research with Morningstar, Inc., a firm in Chicago, Illinois offering investment research services, including stock and fund analysis, reports, and tools. Between 1999 and 2004, Mr. Bernier researched firms in a wide range of industries. While researching, he met with the companies’ management teams, created earnings and cash flow models for each company, and wrote detailed research reports on his findings for other employees and managers at Morningstar, Inc. He also led a team of stock analysts, ensuring the continuing quality of their models and research reports through extensive editing and oversight.
From 1997 to 1999, Todd Bernier worked as an Associate in the Corporate Banking and Underwriting division of the Bank of Nova Scotia in Toronto and Chicago, where his work revolved around risk analysis, including extensive models to assess credit worthiness, financial statement analysis, due diligence, and credit analysis on potential borrowers. He then presented his risk analysis findings to the senior investment committee.
Todd Bernier holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, and a Master of Business Administration from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, in addition to Series 7 and 63 Licenses. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst with the CFA Institute.
