Urban Out Sitters: Pet Hotel and Pet Taxi Services

Chicago, Illinois

Joseph Giannini, founder and owner of Chicago’s pet care service Urban Out Sitters, feels a deep sense of responsibility toward animals. With more than 10 years of experience working in the pet industry, he now cares for more than 120 dogs daily at Urban Out Sitters, which enjoys two locations in the city. Joseph Giannini brings many accomplishments to Urban Out Sitters, including his American Red Cross certification in pet first aid and CPR and his grooming skills he acquired from the Academy of Dog Grooming Arts. More than anything, Joseph Giannini instills in all of his employees a deep sense of empathy for animals, which he gained working with the Chicago Police Department and The Dog Advisory Work Group (D.A.W.G), rescuing pets from abusive situations. Since he opened Urban Out Sitters’ doors in 1999, it has been featured in Crain’s Chicago Business, and the company also won a place on Chicago Magazine’s Best Of list in the Best Doggie Daycare & Pet Hotel category.

At Urban Out Sitters, a trained team of professionals offers various luxury services for dogs and cats, including doggie day care, 24–hour dog boarding, in-home cat–sitting, and various dog–walking programs. Cage–free day care starts at a reasonable $31 a day for one dog and $52 for two, offering working owners the opportunity to put their dogs in a safe, fun, environment where they receive constant supervision. Dogs can frolic with other dogs, play with staff members, or just take a snooze. Urban Out Sitters’ day care also offers transportation to and from its facilities, and staffers take care to keep the travel time at a minimum and provide heated and air–conditioned vans for the pets’ comfort. Urban Out Sitters’ boarding prices start at $40 per day for one dog and $30 for each additional one; these prices include cage-free boarding with continuous monitoring, webcam access for owners, and placement of your dog into a group that best fits his or her social behavior and personality. Dog walking rates run $14 for one animal and $13 each for two or more. The Puppy Out Relief program, which provides a staff member to come to your home two or three times a day to take your puppy outside, runs $11 per puppy. The Senior Advantage Outreach program exists for senior dogs who need special care; an Urban Out Sitters’ professional will spend 30 minutes with the dog and go for a walk, give him or her any medications, and massage the dog’s joints and muscles. In–home cat care costs $16 a day for one cat and $3 for each additional one; if medication is needed, the cost is $21 a day.
