An alumna of the University of Arkansas School of Law, Valencia Rainey has developed a solid reputation for her litigation and leadership skills. She has cultivated a superior ability to analyze legal documents and examine factual issues. During more than 20 years in litigation, Valencia Rainey has gained significant experience in the courtroom, representing clients in a number of federal felony jury trials.

Valencia Rainey began her litigation career working at National Veterans Legal Services, as a Deak K. Phillips Fellow. In this role, she was responsible for representing veterans before the United States Board of Veterans’ Appeals. Valencia Rainey helped many clients receive disability awards and service-related injury rulings. She accepted a position with te United States Department of Justice, where she helped pursue claims against state and local jurisdictions. Valencia Rainey accepted a position at the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the District of Columbia. During her tenure at the Office of the Federal Public Defender, Valencia Rainey gained significant trial experience. She conducted hearings, argued pre-trial motions, and filed motions. During this time, Valencia Rainey worked on a one-year assignment for the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. Additionally, she advised other lawyers on federal matters for this assignment.

Valencia Rainey is President of the Greater Washington Area Chapter (GWAC) Women Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association. She is a member of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia as well as the National Bar Association. Additionally, she is affiliated with The District of Columbia Bar, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (MWELA), and National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA).
