Rising Americana / Country Artist with Radioplay Worldwide36, Nashville, TennesseeVan Preston is hot on the trail to making a name for herself. Van grew up in a small Arkansas town, and started writing at just nine years old. Arriving in Nashville in 2004, she has come far. Her debut self-titled CD is making waves. Imagine a pure but rootsy country sound with an attitude.With four songs so far that have been in the Top Twenty in Europe, Vans third European single, “Touger Than That” went to Number 11 on European radio May 26, 2007. As of May 26,2007, Van Preston was rated the #4 Independent Artist in Europe, out of over 800 radio stations.The song is also Vans fourth U.S. single to U.S. secondary market Country Radio stations. Van will be doing a U.S. radio tour in May and June 2007. Vans single,”Toy”, went to the New Music Weekly charts and got substantial airplay across the U.S. Secondary Radio Market in late 2006. Van was recently given International distribution after being contacted by Roots Music Distribution, due to demand for Van’s music in Europe. The BBC Radio network in the UK has begun playing Van’s material, as well. The UK’s premier Country music magazine, “Maverick”, reviewed Van’s debut CD in the June 2006 issue. Van was one of 12 writer/ artists featured in the September/October 2006 issue of “Performing Songwriter”, and was the featured artist for October 2006 on www.unsignedmusicmag.com. Van has been getting more and more great reviews from Radio as well as Industry Publications. A writer as much as an artist, Van’s song “Someone Who Ain’t Me” is a 2007 Honorable Mention song with the Nashville Songwriter’s Association, out of over 8,000 entries. In 2006, Van’s song “What Goes Around” was one of the top 15 songs in the 2006 CMT/NSAI Songwriting Competition out of over 6,000 entries, and was featured on cmt.com during March and April 2006. Van was also a finalist in the 2005 UK Songwriting competition, and was one of two writers chosen nationally by the John Lennon Songwriting Organization to perform at the Summer 2005 NAMM show. The video for her song, “Toy”, is currently playing on Sprint VIDEO Mobile Voltage phones in London, Dublin, New York City, Miami, and Los Angeles. Van was selected to perform at the 2006 MidWest Music Summit in Indianapolis in August 2006, as well as being chosen to play Atlantis in Atlanta in October 2006.
