Currently, as a Partner with the respected firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Mr. Norviel is also an active member of advisory panels and boards of numerous organizations. In addition to participating as a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Mr. Norviel serves as a board member of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Whitaker Biomedical Engineering Institute Advisory Board, the Center for Science, Technology and Society at Santa Clara University, and the University of Colorado Boulder’s College of Engineering & Applied Science, among other entities. Vern Norviel initially gained experience in the field of law as general counsel for numerous biotechnology firms, including Affymetrix, Inc., and Perlegen Sciences, Inc. He gained an in-depth understanding of legal matters as they pertained to companies in the field of life sciences. Today, Mr. Norviel is recognized by numerous database and reference resources as a noted legal professional in the area of life sciences. Vern Norviel earned recognition from Law Business Research Limited in its Who’s Who of Business Lawyers for 2011 and in the 2011 Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Vern Norviel graduated from Santa Clara University, where he earned a Master’s degree in Engineering, and the University of San Francisco, where he obtained his Juris Doctor. Mr. Norviel previously completed his undergraduate studies in chemical engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. In his free time, he enjoys athletic activities such as bike riding.
