Manager - RiverPointe Farm

Bloomsbury, New Jersey

In RiverPointe Farm of Bloomsbury, New Jersey, Vicki Patterson has found the perfect place to raise a fine pedigree of Gypsy horses. Vicki and her husband breed a variety of horses on their farm, including mares, fillies, and show/riding horses; the horses are also available for sale. Vicki Patterson enjoys raising and taking care of the animals, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the barn, and ensuring the horses and other animals have a comfortable and safe place to call home. Vicki Patterson has spent many years involved in collie rescue, and RiverPointe Farm is home to five rescued dachshunds and three collies.

Vicki Patterson has managed RiverPointe Farm since 2009, taking on a variety of duties beyond the sale of horses. Patterson handles the cleanup, grooming, and maintenance of 11 horses and sheep, as well as 10 dogs. The 64-acre estate is not solely dedicated to animals; Vicki and her husband Mike allocate much of the land to growing hay to sustain life on the farm.

In her sale barn, Vicki Patterson has made three horses available for purchase. Patterson’s mare, RiverPointe Tory, is a proven, grey-and-white three-year-old; Patterson describes RiverPointe Tory as “sweet and super quiet.” Also available is Tory’s recent foal, RiverPointe Lilly, a 2011 Buckskin filly. Not to be outdone by the Gypsies, Patterson’s riding horse, Cruise, is also available. Cruise is highly trained to work with people, and Patterson claims he is the best horse she has ever ridden.

Vicki Patterson invites guests to RiverPointe Farm to peruse her salebarn or just take in the tranquil countryside of Bloomsbury, New Jersey. For more information on the farm or available animals, Vicki Patterson can be reached by phone at 908-455-0111. Patterson posts photos and videos of her Gypsy horses and more information about the animals on her farm, on her website, www.ownagypsy.com.

  • Vicki Patterson Discusses News from New Jersey City University, Vicki Patterson
    November, 2011
Vicki Patterson manages a Gypsy Vanner horse farm in Bloomsbury, New Jersey, where she also provides puppies for adoption. Previously, Vicki Patterson graduated with degrees in education and biology from New Jersey City University. In the following, she discusses New Jersey City University.

The 2012 University Lecture Series will feature two talks. Author Ta-Nehisi Coates, who blogs and writes for The Atlantic, will give a speech on February 13. Television journalist Nina Alvarez will speak to the campus on April 16. Currently teaching at the City University of New York’s Graduate School of Journalism, Ms. Alvarez continues work on a documentary about a photographer who covered the Afghan conflict.

NJCU’s President, Dr. Carlos Hernández, recently announced that he will retire effective July 1, 2012. Prior to assuming leadership of the university, Dr. Hernández served in other leadership roles within the psychology department and as an administrator. During his 18.5-year tenure, the university changed its name from Jersey City State College to its present moniker. He has pressed for a greater global focus in the curriculum, including language studies and semesters abroad.

NJCU will expand its science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) offerings using funding from the U.S. Department of Education. The agency recently bestowed a $9 million grant on NJCU, the state’s sole four-year Hispanic-Serving Institution. The funds will facilitate community college students transferring to NJCU to complete Bachelor’s degrees in science-related majors and increase the success rates of such students. The grant will also support the creation of additional science laboratories, curriculum evaluation, and enhancements related to STEM fields.
