Victor
Hogstrom

Combining years of executive leadership with an incomparable sense for business, Victor Hogstrom has achieved a significant level of success over the course of his broadcasting career.

Kansas City, Missouri

With over 25 years of experience in public television, Victor Hogstrom has a demonstrable pattern of success in bringing stations to profitability and sustained growth, greater visibility and overall success through his leadership. Once described as a “public television wizard” by the Los Angeles Sentinel, Hogstrom’s consistent record of achievement stems from his commitment to problem solving through a combination of innovation and strategic fiscal management.

Beginning his managerial career at the Rockford, Illinois station of WPTI-TV, Victor Hogstrom was responsible for launching the small station into national prominence through his revolutionary development of public cablecast television programming. As a result of this unique entrepreneurial idea, which allowed public broadcasting programs to be seen on cable, Victor Hogstrom and the station were lauded in the pages of major newspapers and magazines, such as Variety.

After achieving so much at WPTI-TV, Victor Hogstrom took his abilities to KIXE-TV in Redding, California, where he held the position of General Manager. Again demonstrating a knack for business growth and entrepreneurship, Victor Hogstrom was able to increase individual support to the station by 256% over 8 years in addition to increasing the overall viewership by 175%. On top of that, Victor Hogstrom also increased the overall budget of the station by 140%.

Victor Hogstrom continued his streak of success at his next position as President and CEO of WTCI-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Under his tenure, the station saw a budget increase of 118%, earned its first national awards and regional Emmys, and became the first public station in Tennessee to provide 24-hour programming. Additionally, due to Hogstrom’s leadership of the station’s fundraising team, WTCI was able to convert to a fully digital station with high definition equipment and a new 35,000 sq. ft. building. These measures quadrupled WTCI’s digital signal strength and brought the station into modern broadcasting.

Most recently, Victor Hogstrom served as the President and CEO of Kansas City’s KCPT. In this capacity, Hogstrom was responsible for restructuring and leading a team that brought tremendous financial success to KCPT. Besides improving the station’s brand, creating higher visibility, and forming significant community-based and business partnerships, Hogstrom’s leadership allowed KCPT’s $7M debt to be reduced dramatically to under 10%.

In reflection of his career, it is no wonder the LA Sentinel described Victor Hogstrom as a “public television wizard” for the quality of his work and his outstanding leadership. Given his gifted fundraising skills and his savvy business and marketing mind, it is easy to see why.

A graduate of Brigham Young University (non-Mormon), Victor Hogstrom earned multiple degrees from the institution including both a BA and an MA in Mass Communication and an additional BA in International Relations. In his spare time, when he’s not practicing lines for his parts in local community theatre, Hogstrom enjoys spending time with his wife, Lovest and kids. An avid tennis player, Hogstrom enjoys passing on his love of the sport to his twin sons, Jeremy and Jermaine.
