Educated at the University of Michigan, the University of Washington, and Florida State University, Vincent Akhimie possesses a dedication to his profession that has led to a successful career in urban planning and environmental services and management. At the University of Washington, Vincent Akhimie earned both a BS and an MS in Civil Engineering. While working toward a doctoral degree at the University of Michigan, Vincent Akhimie also worked part-time and sometimes full-time with the City of Ann Arbor in Michigan. Vincent Akhimie was later recruited to Louisville, Kentucky, where he headed the Transportation Program area for the Kentucky-Indiana Regional Planning and Development Agency. Positions in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Florida followed for Vincent Akhimie. Most notably, Vincent Akhimie’s career moves have always involved an increase in responsibilities, marking Vincent Akhimie as an accomplished, gifted leader. In 2006, Vincent Akhimie accepted the role of Director of Public Works for the City of Riviera Beach, Florida. In only three years, Vincent Akhimie has succeeded in establishing Riviera Beach’s first Stormwater Master Plan and Master Maintenance Schedule. Vincent Akhimie’s day-to-day duties include managing all employees and operations at the Department of Public Works. Reporting to the City Manager, Vincent Akhimie also prepares the department’s budgets, both capital and operating. Though his career has taken him to a number of different cities, Vincent Akhimie has always been engaged in his local communities through service. Vincent Akhimie has participated in the Big Brother Big Sister mentoring program in Lakeland, Florida, and the Rotary Club in Miami Beach, Florida. In Stamford, Connecticut, Vincent Akhimie was President of the Lions Club International. Vincent Akhimie now resides in Lakeland, Florida, with his family. Vincent Akhimie is an active tennis player, plays golf, and has organized doubles tennis matches in the City of Lakeland.
