Viva Macau

Founded in 2005, Viva Macau launched its commercial flight services in December 2006, specializing in long-distance flights to and from Macau International Airport, located across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong. Viva Macau pioneered a new business model that allowed the company to provide discounted airfares throughout the region for direct flights to Macau, Asia's hottest tourism destination. Viva Macau operated a fleet of wide-body Boeing 767s, with plans to double its fleet to 6 aircraft in 2010 and expand to 12 aircraft by 2012. Through the use of wide-body aircraft, Viva Macau was able to offer significantly discounted fares and access key medium- and long-haul routes to major hubs in Asia and Australia. The extra cargo space afforded by these larger aircraft allowed Viva Macau to subsidize the costs of passenger fares by selling air freight consignments. Led by Acting CEO Reg Macdonald and an experienced team of industry-leading Asian airline professionals, Viva Macau offered flights to and from Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Australia. In recognition of its business innovations and contributions to the Macau tourism industry, Viva Macau was named “New Airline of the Year” in 2007 by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation.
