William Jurena serves as Director of the Internal Audit Department at Central Vermont Public Service, Inc., an independent energy company that services approximately 75 percent of the municipalities in Vermont. William Jurena brings over 25 years of experience in auditing to this position. William Jurena received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, where he majored in accounting. Subsequently, William Jurena accepted accounting positions in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Charleston, West Virginia. In 1983, William Jurena joined United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS), where he served in various capacities until 2007. Until 1993, William Jurena held the position of District Controller for Georgia and Kansas. In this role, William Jurena managed financial processes and procedures, created budgets, and analyzed district trends. William Jurena was appointed Region Controller in 1993, undertaking similar tasks at a broader level and increasing productivity by consolidating four accounting offices and closing two districts. Based on his achievements, in 1998 William Jurena was appointed to the position of Vice President of Audit for United Parcel Service Capital Corporation, a subsidiary of United Parcel Service . As such, William Jurena oversaw all aspects of the Capital Corporation’s audit processes, developed audit committee reports for senior management, and conducted research into budget variances and any other financial irregularities. In 2003, William Jurena was promoted to the position of Assistant Audit Director at United Parcel Service, where he was responsible for overseeing 41 senior auditors at UPS United Parcel Service’s U.S., U.K., Singapore, and Hong Kong offices. William Jurena developed audit plans with senior executives and participated in drafting United Parcel Service’s SEC filings and disclosure statements. William Jurena joined Central Vermont Public Service, Inc. in 2008, where he manages the Internal Audit Department, leads all auditing staff, develops auditing strategies, and works with Central Vermont Public Service’s chief financial officer to ensure SOX 404/302 compliance and an appropriate, risk-based audit plan for the company. A member of The Institute of Internal Auditors, William Jurena has distinguished himself for rigor and excellence. William Jurena also contributes to the American Cancer Society and the Special Olympics, among other charities.
