As the lead physician and surgeon at Mile High Corneal Specialists, P.C., Dr. William Richheimer holds a dedication to optimizing his patients’ vision. A committed student, Dr. William Richheimer graduated from Cornell University, where he appeared on the dean’s list and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1996.

Dr. William Richheimer continued his education at the Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Richheimer graduated from Duke University in 2001 and shortly thereafter undertook an internship in internal medicine at Saint Joseph Hospital. Transitioning into ophthalmology in 2002, he completed a residency at the California Pacific Medical Center, where he was honored with the Wayne Erdbrink Award for outstanding resident research. He also led over 20 grand rounds lectures on topics such as medical ethics, wavefront LASIK, and adaptive optics. Dr. Richheimer laid the foundation for his specialty in corneal treatment and surgery as a fellow at the John A. Moran Eye Center at The University of Utah. During his period, he co-authored a paper that has since been published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology.

In his first role beyond fellowship, Dr. William Richheimer served as an Associate Physician and Surgeon at Corneal Consultants of Colorado, P.C. He continued to treat patients for issues related to corneal disease, cataracts, and glaucoma before opening his own practice in 2008. As the President and owner of Mile High Corneal Specialists, P.C., Dr. Richheimer continues to perform life-changing procedures and to provide innovative therapies to patients in order to restore their eyesight and eliminate eye stress. In addition to his specialty in corneas, Dr. Richheimer replaces cataracts with premium intraocular lenses to fix nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. He also performs the popular LASIK surgery for eligible candidates. Dr. William Richheimer offers other solutions for common problems in the Colorado area, including therapy for dry eyes. Whatever the case, Dr. Richheimer provides individualized attention to help ensure that every patient feels and sees at their very best.

A dedicated philanthropist, Dr. William Richheimer has worked as a Volunteer Eye Surgeon at Hospital de la Familia in Nuevo Progresso, Guatemala. He has also visited Nepal to teach corneal transplants. In his time abroad, he has performed hundreds of cataract surgeries on a pro bono basis.
