At Dartmouth College and abroad, Zak Kaufman blends his academic passions with public service and research, having crafted his own major in Health and Society in Latin America and the Caribbean. Zak spent his winter working on an adolescent-targeted HIV prevention program and conducting medical anthropology research in Haitian migrant communities in the Dominican Republic, where he will return to conduct thesis research. He has served as a Medical Translator in rural Nicaragua, co-founded Dartmouth Ends Hunger, and currently works as College Development Director for Grassroot Soccer, an international HIV prevention program that uses the power of sport in the fight against AIDS. Zak aspires to enter the field of international public health, particularly working in Latin American developing communities to improve public health and advocate for human rights.
